Bulgarian Building & Property Services was set up in July 2006 by Shirley and Peter Starbuck. Shirley has another company which runs a helpline for students that are learning about ways of investing in property in th UK and Overseas. Peter is a maintenance technician.

After buying a village property in October 2005, we decided to get some quotes for a couple of jobs. Our first opportunity of getting out to Bourgas was the beginning of July this year so in the meantime I set up a good dialogue with Georgi Tanev our builder.

When we arrived at the property for the first time as new owners, we were quite disappointed. It is amazing how different a place looks when it is totally empty and ours looked very sad indeed.

Georgi and his partner Martin turned up right on cue and were very professional. They pointed out the obvious problems and then we told them what work we required. Finally we decided that it was best to do a total renovation job as it would be cheaper than having bits done here and there. You can find the progress of this work on the renovations page.

We went back to the office in Bourgas to discuss the cost of the renovations. We talked at great length about what I did and how I spent most of my time helping people through the property investing minefield in the UK. They were very keen to have a UK office, to help people with the whole process and a base from which they could advertise their skills as both architects and builders. Somewhere during this conversation we found that we had become the UK office they had been looking for.

Our mission is to let others know that we are a reliable, honest and trustworthy company both here in the UK and in Bulgaria.

Georgi Tanev

Georgi studied building with a specialty in architecture at Kolyo Ficheto high School in Burgas. He went on to specialise in Finances at Burgas Free University. His management experience inlcudes working with DNIPRO in South Carolina, USA and acting as the chief sub-contractor for DAUSH-ECO in Turkey
